Bridgeland – Inner City Shooting

One thing I’ve always loved about Calgary (and other major cities) is the downtown core of neighborhoods. These little communities always have hidden places to shoot and wonderful buildings or locations that you just can’t find in the suburbs.

This shoot was done just off Memorial Drive, in Bridgeland.

I like shooting before sunset. It allows for some great lighting. Here are some photos within Bridgeland that were taking around 7:30pm – 9:30pm.

Youth & Graffiti…

Beautiful night to shoot, it must have been 22 degrees at 8pm and the sun was just starting to set. Perfect time to shoot. There is so much color that comes out near dusk!

Having some fun with friends on a Tuesday night. There is so many spots in the city that are sometimes hidden from people. You may drive by them every day and think of them as nothing more than an eye sore.

Sometimes though, they’re awesome places for photography, since they go undetected.

I have to admit, this is a known location, no surprise since I stumbled upon it by accident one day, but while we were on location, we had an amateur photographer “scoping” out his location for the next day along with the Calgary City Police all come and stop by for a chat. (Lucky Us!!). We asked the city police if they would like to be apart of our photo shoot, but… they declined (after running my plates).

All was good, we had a good laugh and they were on their way, we then began having some fun.

Ryan and Helen

A photo shoot with Ryan and Helen on Sunday.

It really wasn’t a planned thing, and there’s a story to this. We have all been trying to get together ever since their Wedding to trash Helen’s dress. A year later, and we still haven’t gotten together due to Ryan travelling and me being a workaholic. There.. I said it.

So this Sunday was opened, I was caught up on everything, Ryan and Helen we’re free, so we did a portrait session in the back alley’s of Inglewood. There just wouldn’t be enough time, or preparations to trash the dress, but it’s always fun to get out and shoot.
